Actions in response to feedback from pilot group

Release 1.1
Thank you all for your very valuable feedback. Here’s a quick summary of what you told us and what we have done.

Quick stats

  • 550 users in the pilot/beta group
  • 31% of the beta group provided feedback (great response)
  • 70% in favour of the new my.monash.
A bit more detail
Known issues
Your feedback helped us identify an issue where the application occasionally froze (with three dots locked on the screen). We’re working with the vendor to get this fixed.
User profiles
We’ll soon be able to introduce a more personal experience based on who you are. This will enable us to progressively customise the tiles on the desktop to staff, students, country, campus and more.
Your feedback at work
There’s no denying the new desktop is very different to the my.monash most of us are used to.
Some of you felt that finding your familiar links involved more clicks.  To allow for the clean, uncluttered look we’ve grouped most links into tiles or moved them to the intranet. We did this after extensive user testing and analysis of traffic on the existing my.monash. We’ll continue to monitor analytics and bubble up critical content.
Some of you also reported an inconsistent user experience around the opening of new tabs or windows. To overcome this, we’ve introduced smaller popup windows which has greatly improved the user experience.
In response to your feedback we have also:
  • added a tile for service interruptions
  • added links to Replicon, P2P and HR intranet
  • moved the search icon to a search tile and named it ‘my.monash’ as many users expected this to act as a global Monash search.
  • provided a way to easily switch user accounts.
Backlog
We have added a number of items raised in your feedback to our own backlog to be addressed in future releases.
Many of you also expected to be able to customise the tiles – this is currently a product limitation. We’d like you to be able customise the tiles too so we’ve fed this back to the vendor and asked them to place this enhancement on their backlog.
Overall, we think this is a great first step and we appreciate all your feedback and support.
